Zoom

To join, you will need to use either Zoom's mobile app or the desktop client (not the web browser.) Make sure your version of Zoom is updated to at least version 5.7.6. Devices that are managed by the University should be up to date. This event is being hosted on Zoom’s new event platform and will not be compatible with older versions of Zoom.

Operating Systems

Macs must be on version 10.9 or higher.
Windows machines can use any version except 10S.

Accessibility Note: Zoom Events Platform

This event is using the Zoom Events Platform, a new offering from Zoom. As a new product, some of its components are still being tested for accessibility and issues are being identified. The UMN GAAD events committee acknowledges that this platform is not fully accessible.

Where we have discovered accessibility issues, we are either using functional workarounds and where there are no workarounds available, we have chosen not to use the inaccessible functionality. For this event

Functional workarounds
- where the Zoom Events lobby images do not enable alt text, we are using descriptive file names.
- where the Zoom event lobby does not allow descriptive links, we are using shortened hyperlinks (z links).
Not using the functionality
- Zoom event recordings do not have captioning enabled, so we will share captioned recordings on this website (z.umn.edu/gaad) after the event.

As we discover issues, we are working with the Zoom accessibility team to correct issues and create a more accessible product.
