Tech Hosts are behind-the-scenes support folks that make GAAD run successfully. Tech Hosts should be proficient with using Zoom webinars and be comfortable troubleshooting Zoom technical issues with remote participants.
Tech Host pre-GAAD Tasks
- Review our Community Agreement.
- Attend GAAD Tech Run on May 6 at 10 a.m. via Zoom.
Tech Host Session Details
Before the session
- Sign into Zoom 15 minutes before the session begins.
- Rename yourself "Tech Host: [name]"
- Share your screen with Tech Host interstitial slides.
- Adjust Share Screen settings so Hosts and Panelists can share screen. Click carat next to Share Screen button and open Advanced Sharing options.
- Ensure captionist is assigned access.
- Start manual captioning.
- Click Assign a participant to type.
- The Participants panel will appear.
- Find the participant who you want to type closed captions and hover your mouse over their name.
- Click More
- Select Assign to type Closed Caption.
- Ensure ASL Interpreter is ready.
During the session
- Ensure session is recording.
- When the session begins, send links in the chat. Re-send links about 5 minutes later for any late attendees
- If speaker would like to allow specific attendees to use their microphone, enable this option for the attendee and disable it once they are done.
- Manage any disruptions to the session, such as removing attendees who are negatively impacting the session.
After the session
- Ensure that the next Tech Host has host privileges.
- If this is the last session for the day, stop the recording and end webinar.
- Run Tech Host interstitial slides between sessions.
