Accessible Documents

Join the Accessibility Ambassadors for a presentation by Ben Peck of University Relations about making accessible Word and Google Docs and how to convert them to Portable Document Format (PDF).

Good digital accessibility practices go beyond just making web pages friendlier. Online digital content such as PDFs fall under the same accessibility standards as websites and are equally as vital to people with disabilities. Non-developers also have a part to play in creating accessible content, and this presentation will be a great starting point for everyone, even those who aren’t writing code.

Pre-work: If you would like to test the process we will be using on a document of your own, be sure that you have recent versions of Office and Acrobat Pro DC installed on your computer. Acrobat should be installed on all University-owned devices and Office is available to install at no charge to University-owned computers. Contact Technology Help for assistance.
