Accessibility Event Recordings

This session explores how large language models (LLMs) offer a uniquely accessible interface for people with ADHD, learning disabilities and other neurodivergent profiles. Unlike traditional productivity tools, LLMs accept unorganized, contemporaneous input — meeting users where they are cognitively, rather than requiring pre-structured thought.

This session will provide an overview of how to write alt text and image descriptions for a variety of genres and mediums commonly used in the humanities. 

We will cover the following: 

PDF accessibility is the most requested topic for Accessibility Ambassadors. In this month’s session, presenters from different sectors of the University of Minnesota will share their strategies for working with these complex files.

First, Shane Nackerud and Laura Vavrosky will demonstrate how the UMD and UMTC Libraries make scanned PDFs accessible using Adobe Acrobat Pro (University-wide software) and PREP (paid remediation software). Attendees will learn multiple options for how to remediate PDFs that have no born-digital equivalent.

We are fast approaching the deadline to meet the new federal standards for digital accessibility. Wondering how to ensure your documents, slide presentations, and teaching materials are ready? In this session, we’ll share:

• How to create digitally accessible content from the start, such as a course syllabus, handouts, presentation slides, and PDFs
