Implementation Guidelines
Determine the responsibilities for each group below. Some responsibilities have already been proposed.
ODA
- Enforce the Policy across all colleges, units, and departments.
- Review and make reasonable modification recommendations to policies, practices, and procedures where necessary to avoid discriminating on the basis of disability [Dear Colleague letter]
- Track accessibility issues
- Provide and coordinate accessibility training
- Perform accessibility audits in response to requests or complaints about digital accessibility
- Deliver accessibility support and consultations
- Measure compliance
- Oversee the exceptions process
- Review vendor responses and tools during the RFP process
- Maintain and update web resources such as Accessible U
Website and Application Owners
- Providing easily accessible contact information for feedback for University websites, applications, and services
- Meeting the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, which exceed mere legal compliance for accommodations and do meet the requirements of the policy
- Meeting the minimum digital accessibility standards of the University as determined by the ODA, such as removing accessibility overlays or tools that mask or deceive automated accessibility tools
- Updating the ODA on the status of the accessibility of their website/digital application through an annual audit
